Radeon HD 5800 reaches three PC builders

Three custom-order PC builders today became some of the earliest to pick up AMD's ATI Radeon HD 5800 series as a video option. CyberPower has added the option to three of its systems and will see the Core i5-based Xtreme 4200 and Phenom II-based Gamer Dragon 9500 come with a Radeon HD 5850 as standard while the Core i7-founded will ship with a Radeon HD 5870. Prices start from $927 for the Gamer Dagon and mode up to $999 and $1,393 for the Xtreme 4200 and 5200 respectively.

The iBuyPower updates all touch on AMD Phenom II-based systems and will involve both the the dual-core Gamer Fire 480 and triple-core Gamer Fire 600 outfitted with a Radeon HD 5850 as stock. The full quad-core Gamer Mage 855 (pictured) gets a Radeon HD 5870. These systems ship for prices of $819, $899 and $1,449 each.

Rounding out the updates, Maingear's upgrade lets the small form factor X-Cube as well as the tower-sized ePhex, F131 and Prelude all have the option of the 5870 board. The larger ePhex and F131 can have as many as three cards linked in CrossFire mode, while the Prelude and X-Cube are capped at two. Costs for the upgrades vary by the built-in card but typically add less than the $380 retail cost of a 5870 to the base system price.
