Toshiba Core i7-powered Qosmio X500 dated for UK
Toshiba UK on Wednesday announced it has added a new flagship gaming notebook, the 18.4-inch Qosmio X500. The system is just the second notebook driven by Intel's mobile Core i7 CPU, which normally runs at 1.6GHz but can operate at 2.8GHz when in Turbo Boost mode. Toshiba also regards it as a media system beyond the processor and gives it both a 1080p display as well as a Blu-ray burner and HDMI-CEC support for remote control from other peripherals.
Up to 8GB of RAM can be specified, along with up to 1TB in disk space. A GeForce GTS 250M provides 3D video performance. A backlit keyboard, Harman Kardon speakers, a multi-touch trackpad and a webcam round out the extras.
The Qosmio X500 will ship to UK stores late in October, though prices have not been announced. They are expected to be somewhat higher than the Qosmio X300's equivalent starting price of $2,135. If or when the notebook will arrive in the US is unknown, though a conversion is likely.
