Wii at $200 on Sept. 27

Nintendo this evening confirmed repeated leaks by formally detailing its price cut for the Wii. The console's regular price will fall from $250 to $200 as of September 27th. The box will continue to include the regular bundle of the system, a Wii remote, a nunchuk and Wii Sports.

The price drop is the first since Nintendo released the Wii in November 2006 and makes it the last current-wave console to see a reduction following multiple cuts by Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo's move is prompted both by the economic crunch hurting spending as well as much higher PS3 and Xbox 360 sales following their own price drops to $300.
