PS3 motion control on track for spring


Sony at the Tokyo Game Show solidified its plans for its PS3 motion controller. Although still unnamed, the wand-like controller now has common PlayStation buttons and a trigger. It further shares the force feedback technology from DualShock 3 controllers and and will run on a lithium-ion battery instead of disposables.

As seen earlier, it revolves around an orb that a PlayStation Eye camera uses to track the player's movements, including distance. An accelerometer and gyroscope also gauge the wand's relative angle and movement. The electronics giant has reiterated that the controller should ship in the spring with high-profile supporting games like future Ape Escape and Echochrome titles. Leaks have put the Japanese release in March.

    Hilarity Ensues

    Honestly I think it's hilarious how many people laughed at the Wii's controller design and yet all the competitors are struggling to emulate Nintendo's success! Putting a ball on top of a black version of the Wii Remote doesn't make it a Nintendo product, because Nintendo went after the right audiences, and did the right promotions and marketing to make the brand name stick. Like this online promotion I found for a FREE Wii, check the link for info, promotions like these will keep Nintendo in the game, not imitations. Do they really think they can get the Wii Fit audience? Laughable!
