LG BL20 gets official intro, price, more
LG on Monday officially announced the upcoming release of its newest New Chocolate series handset, the BL20. While most of the specs have already been known, including the 5-megapixel camera, 2.4-inch display, and touchbutton interface, the official release adds an approximate release date and pricing for the handset. The BL20 should ship in Europe at first sometime in October, priced at the equivalent of $394 without needing a contract.
The BL20 also has an LED flash and autofocus capability for its camera, while internal memory is set at 130MB but is expandable thanks to an 8GB microSD memory card. Quad-band GSM voice networks will be supported, as will two-band 3G data networks. The thin slider is meant as much as a fashion accessory as a phone, according to the company.
Thanks to a Widget Hotkey, users can customize their home screen with shortcuts to favorite applications, including a new feature, the Clear Memo Capture. It allows spoken and typed messages to be saved.
The BL20 is the second in the New Chocolate series of cellphones from LG, with the touchscreen BL40 the premier offering.
