Base Mac mini shipping dates slip

Mac mini now at 1-3 days at Apple

Rumors of an immiment Apple desktop refresh were bolstered today by the addition of a delay to shipping times for the base Mac mini. Apple's online stores in the US and in Canada now show the entry $599 model shipping in one to three business days instead of its usual 24 hours. The high-end model has the same shipping time, however.

Although the company doesn't often change ship times to reflect incoming new models, unexpected but publicly advertised delays when they occur are often signs Apple is phasing out a product and has run low of inventory ahead of when the new model appears.

Little is known about what any Mac mini update would involve, though the most recent leak suggests that it will be a minor performance upgrade. That the high-end version appears to remain intact suggests that it will become the entry level and may have a price cut to match.

I just placed an order Monday for a Mac Mini for work, hoping to have it in by the end of the week. It's a rush job, and they need it for next Monday. I wonder if I'll get it in time.

Yep

Can't be a production or shipping glitch. Gots to be a sign of a new model.

And, Zaren, you better hope it isn't, because if it is, it won't be announced until next monday/tuesday, and you won't get it until after then.

This was news last week...

Though not reported in the news. Apple stock levels were exhausted both at Apple.com and Ingram Micro last week. Tweeted about this on 9/26.

Let me add... THANK G-D THE MINI IS GETTING AN UPDATE. What a b****** child Apple has made of that platform.

Win 7 and new iMacs

My guess is that Apple will take the win out of the Windows 7 launch later this month by releasing the slickest iMacs ever. Take that Balmer!
