SanDisk boosts gaming system storage capacities

SanDisk on Wednesday announced it has released memory cards meant specifically for portable gaming systems such as Sony's PSP Go and PSP as well as the Nintendo DSi. All significantly boost the storage capacity of said systems, with the PSP Go's capacity doubled by the new 16GB Memory Stick Micro M2 card. There is a 32GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and a Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo of the same capacity for the PSP from Sony, while the DSi gets an 8GB SDHC card.

To complement the 16GB Memory Stick Micro M2 card, SanDisk offers the gaming compatibility pack (GCP) that adapts Memory Stick Micro M2 to the Memory Stick PRO Duo slot while also serving as a direct M2 reader. This lets owners use the 16GB card in Memory Stick PRO Duo devices or readers and easily transfer files to it from their PCs.

The Memory Stick Micro M2 can now be had in 2GB to 16GB capacities, with prices ranging from $28 to $142. The Memory Stick PRO Duo offers the same capacities, though its prices range from $28 to $230. PRO-HG prices in the same capacities range from $33 to $280, with shipments starting in October. The SanDisk SDHC card for the Nintendo DSi is also now available in 4GB and 8GB capacities, priced at $33 and $48, respectively. The gaming compatibility pack costs $18.
