Adapter powered by USB input
Kanex has released its latest Mac accessory, a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that supports 1080p video and digital audio. The device plugs into the Mac's Mini DisplayPort, optical audio Mini Jack, and a USB port for power. The audio and video signals are both sent across HDMI, eliminating the need to run a dedicated Toslink cable to a receiver for digital sound.
The device supports HDMI 165MHz at 1.65Gb/s per channel, along with 8-bit per channel for deep color. Audio formats include DTS Digital, Dolby Digital including DTS-HD and Dolby True HD, and uncompressed signals such as LPCM.
The Mini DisplayPort adapter is currently available directly from the company for $60.

display port should incorporate USB and digital au

The specifications of the display port do include support for usb on the secondary channel and digital audio. However, the current minidisplayport doesn't support it which is good for cable companies, but from a cie like apple who pushes for easy to use equipments, it should support it.
Then, a simple minidisplayport to HDMI cable would work...
