Kempler outs Billionair 6 smartphone

Fleshing out its early phone lineup, Kempler & Strauss added a second but more advanced device to its mix. The Billionair 6 is a conventional touchscreen phone that runs on Windows Mobile (likely 6.1) but adds a custom interface nicknamed slidetouch that includes multiple home screens, top-level widgets, and carousels for large lists like the installed apps or contacts. An accelerometer auto-resizes the interface for most tasks when the phone is tilted on its side.

The phone is claimed to be relatively advanced with a 624MHz ARM processor, 3G over HSPA, GPS and Wi-Fi all standard. A 3-megapixel camera provides photos and videos, although Kempler only gives the phone a regular microSD slot (not microSDHC) and so limits the phone to a maximum 4GB of storage. It also claims just 2.5 hours of talk time.

These key cutbacks are reflected in the price for the Billionair 6, which should sell for $260 even as an unlocked, unsubsidized device.
