Dell offers more looks at its "ultra-thin" Adamo XPS laptop

New laptop design takes on Apple's MacBook Air

Dell on Monday offered two new product shots of its upcoming Adamo XPS" ultra-thin laptop. The highly stylized laptop, which was unveiled in early September, is thinner than the Apple's revolutionary MacBook Air--under 10mm thick. Although few details have been disclosed, the ultra-sleek laptop appears to rely on a unique, underside hinge to reach its dimensions.

As noted previously, Dell's XPS label is historically applied to its performance models and implies a speed-up compared to the existing Adamo 13's 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo, although an ultra-low voltage processor is still likely. Such small dimensions also imply a solid-state drive for storage as well.

In March, Dell introduced the Adamo By Dell brand and its Adamo laptop. Derived from the Latin word meaning “to fall in love with,” Dell slaims the Adamo laptop is the world’s thinnest, although Sony last week took its own title with by claiming the world's lightest laptop at 1.6lbs.

From the pictures, it looks wicked cool. Of course, until one can see and touch a real unit, it's hard to tell for sure.

Funny how Dell shows pictures of the form factor - but no working model, no details, no release date, no specs, and no price. No pictures of the screen or the keyboard either.

Can anyone really say there's a working model of this? I don't know what Dell's game is - they seem to be trying to get publicity for a product that won't be produced for a long time, if ever.

What's funny is that there are two USB slots despite the fact that it's smaller than the air.

Perhaps your conspiracy theory would be more believable if it was some small, non publicly traded company, but large companies like dell, that answer to investors, don't usually put out bogus press releases.

Odd that you aren't willing to admit this exists, though I'm sure you are an apple tablet believer, which doesn't even have any of the evidence you have listed.

And yet everyone is convinced that Apple is working on a tablet, even though they've never said anything and no one has actually seen any pictures.

Weird design

Very odd that way that it would only be touching your lap or other surface along the front lip and near the back. Seems like that back part would be problematic--easy to have it slip or tip over. For all the charges that Apple values style over substance, this seems like a much more egregious example.
