WD ships second-gen TV Live Media Player

Western Digital has updated its WD TV Live Media Player by releasing its successor. Like the original, the new player has a USB 2.0 slot for thumb drives, external drives or PCs, along with an HDMI port to connect it to TVs. New features include DLNA and Bonjour support, letting users access their home networks and stream multimedia via the Ethernet port.

There is still no onboard storage, but the WD TV Live Media Player has support for 1080p video files. Support formats include AAC, MP3, JPEG and H.264/AVCHD. Dolby Digital and DTS sound formats can also be recognized and played back. A remote control is again included and allows for on-screen navigation. Users can also stream YouTube, Flickr and Pandora videos and photos.

The second-generation WD TV Live is now available at Best Buy, priced at $120.
