Compaq outs CQ61, CQ4010, 500B and 505B

HP's sub-label Compaq tonight received three upgraded systems to ready itself for Windows 7. The Presario CQ61z refreshes the familiar 15.6-inch CQ60 with a more modern 2GHz AMD Sempron whose choice helps put the system at a particularly low $400 price (post-rebate) even while brand-new. The refresh further adds Mobility Radeon HD 4200 video in place of the older NVIDIA hardware but still has 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive.

In desktops, the Presario CQ4010F brings a small form factor desktop to Compaq and uses a low-power 2.3GHz Sempron as well as integrated GeForce 6150 video to cut down on power use and cost. A monitor-free system starts at just $309 with 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard disk.

Rounding out, the 500B and 505B are tailored to business and use a more familiar mini tower shape. The 500B is Intel-based but is unusually the least expensive of the two, coming with a Celeron processor (Pentium dual-core an option), 1GB of RAM and a 160GB drive for $359. Choosing the 505B gives a faster Athlon II processor, including up to a quad-core model at $409. Either can choose from a GeForce G210 or Radeon HD 4350 for dedicated graphics.

All four Compaq updates ship day-and-date with Windows 7 on October 22nd.
