Fujitsu shows off new Windows 7 notebooks

Earlier this week, Fujitsu added more notebooks to its line preloaded with Windows 7. The line centers on the 12.1-inch LifeBook T4310 and T4410 tablets with multi-touch capability, the 15.6-inch LifeBook A1220 mainstream notebook, and the 10.1-inch M2011. The T4310 and T4410 are meant for use by students and mobile professionals, respectively, each with 12.1-inch multi-touch screens with a 1366x768 resolution, 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processors and 2GB of RAM.

The LifeBook T4310 has a dual digitizer multi-touch screen that works both with fingers and a stylus. There is a modular drive bay with a quick release latch, a full-size keyboard that's spill-resistant and an integrated webcam as well as dual digital microphones.

Connections include HDMI, VGA, FireWire, gigabit Ethernet and three USB ports. There is also a memory card reader and ExpressCard slot. A fingerprint sensor is integrated for security. The lightest T4310 weighs 4.2lbs. Windows 7 Home Premium is preloaded onto the 320GB hard drive.

The LifeBook T4410 adds the option of Windows 7 Professional or Vista Business as well as an XP Professional downgrade. To make it more suitable for business use, there is an embedded TPM and support for a port replicator. There is a smaller 160GB standard hard drive, and the lightest versions start at 3.9lbs.

The LifeBook A1220 notebook has a 15.6-inch display and either a 2.2GHz or 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo. There is 4GB of RAM onboard and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is loaded on the 500GB hard drive. Users have the option of a Blu-ray reader or dual-layer DVD burner. Draft N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 2-megapixel webcam, memory card reader, ExpressCard slot and four USB ports along with one HDMI port round out the key features.

The last new Fujitsu portable PC is the M2011 netbook, with its 10.1-inch, 1024x576 resolution display and a 1.6GHz Atom. Windows 7 Starter is preloaded onto the 250GB hard drive, and there is 1GB of RAM. Wi-Fi, a webcam and Bluetooth capability are all present, while the six-cell battery is said to provide six hours of battery life.

The T4310 will cost $1,099 after a $50 mail in rebate and will ship on October 30th. The T4410 costs $1,199 with an active digitizer and $1,299 with a dual digitizer. The previously announced LifeBook P3010 now has a $549 price and will be available in November. The Lifebook A1220 is now shipping, priced at $749 with a dual-layer DVD drive and $999 with a Blu-ray drive. The M2011 starts at $449.
