Dell SX2210T brings multi-touch, webcam
After a leak and Japanese details earlier this week, Dell on Friday brought its SX2210T display to the US. It represents Dell's first dedicated multi-touch display and supports one- or two-finger input in operating systems that recognize them, particularly Windows 7. Regardless of platform, the 21.5-inch LCD is relatively high quality for a TN-based panel with an 83 percent color gamut and a 50,000:1 contrast ratio.
The 1080p-native screen carries its own two-megapixel webcam and takes either DVI or VGA for video input. Both touch and the webcam signal are pushed to the attached computer through a built-in four-port USB hub. American buyers can buy the SX2210T for $469.

It doesn't have a VESA mount, so I can't stick a nettop on the back of it. =/

It's like 1982 all over again. Perhaps we can all watch old episodes of Mork & Mindy while developing gorilla arm.

Very Addams Family. Does it come with the disembodied hands? And, do they work with mind control or do they just do their own thing?

Neat idea but a pretty steep price. It's probably capacitive, which is good. Thing is, though, why would I use a touchscreen and my monitor dirty, when I have a keyboard and mouse?

IN my bad dream I have to work with a touchscreen, but it is attached to the wall above the office door. I have to reach WAAAAY UUUP to touch the screen and I am cropping a photo, but then my arms get really tired... but I am grateful to finally combine conditioning exercises with my workflow. At last I can cancel my gym membership and resume drinking 450-calorie mocha lattes, which I love. Thank you, mister Dell! (he is looking slimmer now, too, and at last we know the true reason).

Could this be a poor man's solution to the Wacom 21" Cintiq (Which costs $2000) ?

bulk up on my arms. I don't want them to look like Popeye the Sailor's arms.
Some people must be really serious about this vertical touchscreen stuff. Anyone who's ever had to use one for any length of time will know it's not at all pleasant especially if you have shoulder problems. I've got some bursitis in both of mine and I don't intend to aggravate them further with a touchscreen that causes me to constantly lift my arms. What's strange is that most Windows advocates liked about Windows was the ability to use keystrokes to do everything which was supposedly quicker and saved effort even over a mouse. Yet now they like the idea of a large screen where you need to make fairly large gestures moving objects around. I'm sure a trackpad is much more useful and energy saving.
