AU Optronics 14-inch OLED production-ready

Taiwan's AU Optronics at the FPD International show has been demonstrating a rare 14-inch OLED display panel capable of displaying 1080p (1920x1080). AUO claims a high 100,000:1 contrast ratio despite the size and an all-white brightness of 200cd/m2 for the panel, which is also smooth at 120Hz.

As an OLED, the panel is relatively color-rich for its features and can reproduce 16 million colors and 72 percent of the NTSC color gamut.

There is no current indication of what the panel would cost if AU Optronics decided to produce it; AUO is normally contracted to make displays for others, however, rather than to sell products itself. The company says it is ready to start production if it sees enough demand. [via Tech-On]
