Acer's Liquid Android smartphone specs confirmed

The specifications for Acer's upcoming Liquid smarpthone have been revealed at a conference in France, Revioo reported on Monday. Despite an earlier report, the phone's Qualcomm SnapDragon processor will not be rated at its full, 1GHz clock speed but instead be limited to 768MHz.

Also confirmed at the conference is that the device will be powered by Android 1.6 before being upgraded to Android 2.0 sometime next year. There is otherwise a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 800x480 resolution, 256MB of RAM and a 5-megapixel camera. The Liquid also gets HSPA network compatibility, Wi-Fi, a GPS sensor and Bluetooth, along with a 3.5mm headset jack.

This same chip is rated at 1GHz in Acer'w own OneTouch as well as Toshiba's TG01 and HTC's HD2.

Pricing for the Acer Liquid is set at the equivalent of about $520 in Europe without carrier subsidies, with a release date sometime this year. [via MobileTechWorld]
