MOTO ships Android 2.0 MID for developers

The MOTO Development Group is now making its 5-inch Android Media Platform (AMP) mobile Internet device (MID) available to developers. The device can run Google's Android 2.0 mobile OS and lets developers prototype interfaces, develop apps and extend hardware features. The MID is powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP3430 CPU and uses a 5-inch OLED capacitive touchscreen, though an LCD of the same size is optional.

The AMP despite its developer focus is still laden with high-end home device features, such as its 8-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. A 3G module is optional. There is also a USB port and an SD card slot for expansion. A three-axis accelerometer is built-in, as is a 3,000mAh battery.

MOTO is also developing 3.5-inch and 10-inch touchscreen devices using different versions of OMAP processors, both of which are due to be available in 2010. No indication has been given of pricing for these or the 5-inch MID.

    not available?

You say that Motorola is now making this unit available, but on the Moto site there's no indication of any way to actually order one of these items.
