ViewSonic media hub to upconvert videos to 1080p

ViewSonic earlier this week announced the VMP70 media hub, which allows users to bring the photo, music and video files from their PCs to their living room by displaying them on conventional TVs. While there is no Internet connection of any sort, users can add content using the two USB ports, with video files upconverted to 1080p quality.

Video file support is broad, and includes MPEG1/2/4, DivX/Xvid, H.264, VC1 and RM/RMVB, while compatible audio file standards are WMA, MP3, OGG, AAC and more. Outputs for video include HDMI, component and composite, while audio outputs include analog audio, optical and digital coaxial. The VMP70 has support for DTS and Dolby Digital surround sound formats.

The ViewSonic VMP70 is available now, priced at $130, but should be priced at $99 closer to the holidays. [via UberGizmo]
