Nokia to replace faulty BYD phone chargers

Nokia on Monday announced it has started a replacement program to exchange about 14 million chargers made by BYD for Nokia as a precautionary measure. Three charger models made between June 15th and August 9th of 2009 can potentially shock people when they're plugged in as the top plastic cover can detach from the body and expose the internal components.

To ease the process of the free exchange process, Nokia set up a dedicated website (above) for owners of Nokia handsets with the affected chargers. Nokia is not aware of any incidents or injuries resulting from the faulty chargers, and BYD says it will cover the costs associated with the replacement of the chargers.
