Ricoh GXR system has multiple sensors, lenses

Ricoh will release a new camera system sometime in December that promises to be smaller than either Olympus' or Panasonic's Micro Four Thirds Cameras. Called GXR, the key feature of the system will be to make both the sensor and lens interchangeable. Photographers will have the option of replacing both the lens and sensor as a package instead of just the lens alone.

A kit with two lenses, including a 24-72mm f2.5-4.4 with 10-megapixel CCD built-in sensor and VGA video recording capability will cost the equivalent of $836 in the UK. A kit with a 50mm f2.5 macro lens with a 12.3-megapixel CMOS sensor and HD video recording capabilities will run the equivalent of $1,000. The GXR body alone will cost $700.
