T-Mobile brings USB 3G modem, Tap phone to stores
T-Mobile on Wednesday started shipping the webConnect Jet modem and its T-Mobile Tap handset, first introduced over a month ago. The USB modem connects to T-Mobile's 3G network and also provides access to T-Mobile's Wi-Fi hotspots. It doubles as a flash drive through a microSD card slot.
The two plans offered for the Jet USB modem include a $30 per month plan that allows 200MB of data for the month as well as a regular $50 per month plan that includes 5GB of data; Wi-Fi use doesn't count towards the tally. It can also roam globally on quad-band GSM/EDGE and in a smaller number of areas with its dual-band UMTS/HSDPA access.
The Tap is a 3G touchscreen regular phone that can connect to the web via T-Mobile's web2go service. It has a 2-megapixel camera that can record videos, an integrated music player, assisted GPS functionality and stereo Bluetooth audio.
The webConnect Jet is now available for no fee when paired with a two-year data contract. Available in blue or red, the Tap is priced at $80 with a two-year plan and a mail-in rebate.
