Lenovo making smartbook for AT&T

updated 02:10 pm EST, Thu November 12, 2009

Lenovo smartbook uses Snapdragon chip

Qualcomm at its investor conference today showed what should be one of the first production smartbooks. The Lenovo design (pictured) would sit in between netbooks and smartphones in size and will run one of Qualcomm's own Snapdragon processors. It's similarly expected to use AT&T-based 3G for Internet access beyond Wi-Fi.

Few other details are available, though the brief tease suggests it will use a custom Linux interface instead of Android or a similar pre-built OS. Full information is expected to come when Lenovo formally unveils the smartbook at CES in January. [via Dow Jones]
