Xbox 360 fall update due next week

Microsoft today confirmed that its Xbox 360 fall update should go live for all users next week, on November 17th. The upgrade will give those outside of the preview program the major features promised in late spring, including Facebook and Twitter, Last.fm streaming and 1080p Zune Marketplace videos.

Music game owners also receive a special music store to download extra tracks and other content for Guitar Hero, Rock Band and other series.

The update will be free for all current Xbox 360 owners and should only require booting the console once the update is available. Social networking components will only be available to those whose Xbox Live account holders are listed as being over 18, though Microsoft promises parental controls to unlock the feature.
