Rugged ioSafe Solo drive now offers 2TB capacity

ioSafe on Thursday added a new flagship to its Solo lineup of desktop hard drives through a 2TB version. Like others in the range, the external desktop drive is both fireproof and waterproof. It can withstand temperatures up to 1,550 degrees Fahrenheit for as long as 30 minutes and can be submerged in up to 10 feet of salt or freshwater for three days.

There is only a USB 2.0 interface for connecting to either Mac or Windows PCs. ioSafe makes its warranty a special feature and supplies a three-year warranty with each Solo drive as well as a $1,000 data recovery service. While there are no software security measures built-in, users can opt to bolt down or use a cable lock to secure the drives to their mountings for theft prevention.

The 2 TB ioSafe Solo now available, priced at $399. The 500GB ioSafe Solo can be had for $149.

    Great!

Sounds like my drive. I always take my HD along when I go scubadiving. Perfect for the BBQ later on as well
