Acer Liquid A1 smartphone due in UK this month

Acer's first Android-powered smartphone, the Liquid A1, will be out in the UK in late November, according to UK electronics retailer Clove. The phone will, as previously reported, run on a detuned, 768MHz version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon instead of the full-blown 1GHz CPU.

Otherwise, the handset sports a 3.5-inch 800x480 resolution capacitive touchscreen, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, along with a GPS sensor and a 5-megapixel camera. It will run on Android 1.6 instead of the newer Android 2.0 platform.

UK retailer Clove will offer the Liquid A1 for the equivalent of $480, and demand is expected by the store to be high. Despite the UK release date, one for North America remains unknown, though is expected fairly soon. [via SlashGear]
