Origin outs gaming desktop PC, notebook

Origin PC on Tuesday introduced new customizable gaming PCs, with the Genesis desktop and 18.4-inch Eon18 notebook. The former can be had with a choice of processors, including a quad-core Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 975 that's been overclocked to 4.2GHz. As a gaming PC, the former can also be equipped with up to three 1GB GeForce GTX 285 video cards.

There is also up to 12GB of RAM, and the option of an 8X Blu-ray burner. Depending on the size of the chassis, users can equip the Genesis with up to six 1TB hard drives, which can then be set up in RAID 0 or RAID 1 configurations. The boot drive will contain Windows 7 Ultimate. For sound, Origin's options boxes allow for a Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty card.

To provide power for all this hardware, a 1.2KW ThermalTake power supply is offered. Origin's own CPU and GPU liquid cooling system is also available.

The Eon18 notebook has an 18.4-inch screen with a 1080p resolution and can be had with dual GeForce GTX 280M graphics processors. The quickest processor on offer is the 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Quad. Up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM is available, as is the option of fitting three 160GB SSDs for storage. These are preloaded with Windows 7 Ultimate. Power comes from a large but necessary 12-cell lithium-ion battery.

Pricing for the Genesis starts at $1,700, while the Eon18's pricing begins at $2,600. [via Dvice]
