ASUS' fastest netbook to have $500 price

ASUS' Eee PC 1201N today received more definitive release details for the US. The American version will have both the 1.6GHz dual-core Atom 330 and NVIDIA Ion chipset that should give it both faster overall performance and the option of 1080p video, including in Flash 10.1. The netbook will be one of the first to come with Windows 7 Home Premium and accordingly come with 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive.

It will additionally allow aftermarket upgrades to 3GB of RAM. Despite using a two-core chip, the netbook should officially last for about five hours on its stock battery.

Exact ship dates aren't available, but the 1201N should sell for $499 and will come in both black and silver color schemes. UK timetables put the system in December and may hint at US scheduling. [via Laptop]
