iBuyPower Chimera 2 gaming PC now out

iBuyPower on Wednesday introduced its latest gaming PC, the Chimera 2. The various hardware components are housed in a new Chimera Inferno II Chassis with a wraparound flame color scheme. Users can spec a 2.66GHz Intel Core i5 or i7 but can also switch over to AMD's 2.8GHz or 3.2GHz Phenom II processors.

Hard drive capacities range from 500GB to 750GB units and there are various graphics cards offered, including NVIDIA's GeForce GTS 250, ATI's Radeon HD 5750 and 5770, and dual Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce GTX 275 boards. Standalone options include solid state drives for faster performance, and users can opt for up to four 120mm chassis fans and a liquid cooling system. DDR3 RAM tops out at 24GB in certain models. There are seven 3.5-inch internal drive bays for expansion.

All variations of the Chimera 2 run on Windows 7 Home Premium, with prices starting at $999 for a 2.8GHz Phenom II, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and GeForce GTS 250 video. Configurations top out at $1,899 for the Core i7 edition with 6GB of RAM, a 750GB hard drive and the dual GeForce GTX 275 cards.
