Olive gives new music server DAC, gold connectors

Olive has introduced a new home music server with its Olive 4 HD which sports a 2TB capacity and the ability to rip music CDs. Compared to the earlier and similar looking Opus N°4, there is a digital to analog converter (DAC) and all the ports are now gold-plated. The DAC is a high resolution unit in the form of Texas Instrument's 192kHz/24-bit Burr-Brown PCM1792A.

The DAC can also be applied to any external digital music source, with reductions in noise and distortion.

Users can also stream music, not other multimedia files, from a PC and control the device thanks to a 4.3-inch touchscreen. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n Wi-Fi provide the hub with its network connection.

Audio connections include a digital coaxial output, optical audio output and analog audio output, along with an optical audio input, all gold-plated. There is also a USB 2.0 connection. Supported file formats include WAV, FLAC, MP3 and AAC.

The 2TB version of the 4 HD is out now, priced at $2,000. [via Gizmodo]
