Dell FCC post hints at future 10in netbook

Dell could be planning a significant revision to its Mini 10 netbook if an FCC filing (PDF) is a clue. The testing for a seemingly nondescript 802.11n Wi-Fi mini-card makes reference to a 10-inch system with the model number P04T, which isn't known to apply to any current shipping Dell notebook. Few other details are available.

However, the timing and size of the system hints that the system may be based on Intel's imminent Pine Trail-based Atom platform, which would likely need a re-certification as the design needs a new chipset that the FCC wouldn't have already tested.

Pine Trail centers on a smaller, more energy-efficient Atom chip (codenamed Pineview) that has its own integrated graphics hardware. Most anticipate systems based on the new platform to ship in January, including a new Fujitsu model also spotted at the FCC. [via Wireless Goodness]
