Eight drivers arranged in vertical line array

Collins America on Thursday introduced the BagAmp, a portable amplifier system geared for musicians. The system features the company's "Audio Piston" technology that eliminates the need for the rubber ring that holds a typical speaker cone in place. The flat-faced drivers, measuring 3 inches, are claimed to produce similar sound to many 5-inch drivers.

The PA system integrates eight drivers arranged in a vertical line array, while the housing measures just 8.2 x 3.4 x 36.0 inches. Composite construction helps keep the weight below 25 lbs., which includes the bag, stand and power cord.

Users can choose from two identical input channels for 1/4-inch or XLR plugs, with support for 48V phantom power when using condenser mics. A -10dB switchable gain pad is available for each channel, along with dedicated knobs for EQ, reverb and gain.

The BagAmp can be purchased directly from the company for $700, including a bag and folding stand.
