Amazon touts Kindle as top seller

Amazon today claimed a "record" month of sales for the Kindle and has provided some details of its bestselling devices. Without giving numbers, the online retailer said the e-book reader had its "best sales month ever" even before Cyber Monday, the online follow-up to Black Friday. It remains the bestselling individual product of any category at Amazon as well as the most gifted and requested item on the store.

The larger and more expensive Kindle DX sits at 15th place on the list.

Apple is the next strongest vendor in the top 25 electronics devices helped partly by continued discounts beyond the official prices. The 8GB iPod touch is second in the electronics category while the 32GB iPod touch is fourth. The 8GB iPod nano occupies 12th, 14th and 16th place, while a previous-generation 8GB iPod touch rests at 20th place. As Amazon doesn't pool together individual models, it's unclear whether the Kindle would retain its lead if all iPod touch sales were combined.

Other highlights include multiple Garmin nüvi GPS units, the Flip Ultra HD pocket camcorder, and both the Rebel T1i and PowerShot SD780 IS from Canon.
