LG to team up with T-Mobile on Android handsets?

LG said to bring Android phones to T-Mobile

To stop losing its market share in the US, Korean cellphone maker LG is said to be in talks with wireless provider T-Mobile to sell its Android handsets, according to market research company Prudential. A cooperation with the carrier is rumored on the cards, with representatives from T-Mobile said to have visited LG headquarters in Seoul recently. It's unofficially expected LG will bring Android handsets to T-Mobile's lineup, though whether this involves the Eve or another handset isn't evident.

Currently teamed with Verizon, LG's falling share is also blamed on Verizon, the Prudential note indicates; the copmany has been left out of Verizon's holiday promotion program this season. Financial analysts at the group believe the phone designer will try to enter into the prepaid phone market to sell entry-level devices in large volumes.

LG's only other devices besides the Eve (GW620) is the the GW880 meant for China Mobile.

Compared to the second quarter, LG has lost 2 percent in smartphone market share during the third quarter, at 29.7 percent. Samsung has retained its 25.6 percent share in the meantime. [via TelecomsKorea]
