Markets located in Texas, North Carolina

As promised, Time Warner has launched a new WiMAX service, named Roadrunner Mobile, in several markets located in Texas and North Carolina. The service has been made possible through a joint venture established last year with Clearwire. Users are said to expect data speeds of up to 6Mbps, although typical real-world performance will likely fall somewhere closer to 3Mbps.

The new markets include the Dallas/Fort Worth area, along with the North Carolina cities of Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Charlotte and Greensboro.

The Road Runner Mobile 4G Choice plan, which requires at least two existing Time Warner Cable services, will cost subscribers $40 per month and set a data cap at 2GB. The Elite option, for Roadrunner Standard or Turbo customers, provides unlimited access for $50 a month. Roadrunner Standard or Turbo customers can also purchase the National Elite package which combines the Clearwire network with Sprint's 3G EVDO coverage for $80 each month. [via DSLReports]
