Release could be the rumored 2.1 update
Google has confirmed plans to release an Android update, v2.0.1, sometime later this month. The new version could be the rumored v2.1 update claimed to be ready for launch after December 11th. The company claims v2.0.1 will contain a number of bug fixes and behavior changes. Developers will be able to take advantage of a 'Sync Tester' for testing third-party sync adapters.
The update allegedly includes a fix for the autofocus issues that have plagued the new Droid handsets, according to the Boy Genius Report. Droid owners should also expect better voice reception.
The v2.1 rumor suggested Google has prepared a redesigned Android Market, with billing handled directly through the carrier instead of the current Google Checkout option. Customers would also be able to purchase apps from a computer instead of the mobile version of the store.
Android 2.0.1 should arrive in the next few weeks as an over-the-air update for Droid owners.
