ROM reveals HTC planning many Android handsets
Handset maker HTC to update or release 19 handsets with Android 2.1 in the near future, according to a leaked ROM for the OS. While some of these phones are versions of the same handset with different network support or are already out, the news still paints a picture of HTC's upcoming Android releases. The already existing handsets include the Hero, Halo and near-twin Droid Eris (codenamed as the DesireC in the ROM).
There is also the familiar but unreleased Dragon, Passion, and CDMA-capable PassionC, along with the existing Dream. New names that haven't been widely rumored or heard of before include Bahamas, Bravo, Espresso, Huangshan, Incredible, Legend, Liberty, Memphis, Paradise, Sapphire and Supersonic.
While no specifics are known about these devices, the sheer number indicates HTC is heavily committed to the partly open-source operating system and will build the hardware to support it. [via AndroidSpin]
