Droid Eris will have Android 2.0 early next year

Verizon today confirmed that the HTC Droid Eris will get an OS update to Android 2.0 early in 2010. The upgrade will come despite the phone shipping with Android 1.5 and receiving no immediate guarantees that it would be updated to match Android 2.0 on the Motorola Droid.

With the OS upgrade, the Eris will get Google Maps Navigation, along with the other benefits of Android 2.0. The Eris uses a 3.2-inch screen and a trackball, as well as a 5-megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi. It uses HTC Sense UI interface and has Flash support in its browser. [via JKontherun]
