Acer Liquid with Android now out in the UK

While it's slightly behind schedule, Acer's Liquid smartphone with Android is now shipping in the UK, with retailers Expansys and Clove stocking the Android smartphone. The handset, which runs on the 1.6 build, is only available in white so far.

Unlike other handsets using the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Acer chose to artificially underclock it to 768MHz but still promises a relatively fast alternative to rvials. Other features of the Liquid include its 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with an 800x480 resolution, HSDPA-based 3G access, and a Wi-Fi connection. GPS and a 5-megapixel camera also come onboard.

Including local taxes, the Liquid costs the equivalent of about $540. A US release hasn't been made official. [via AcerLiquidBlog]
