Sony relaunching e-book store, adding EPUB, more
Sony has let its customers know via an e-mail and online announcement that it will make significant changes to its online bookstore. As of December 11th, the Sony Ebook Store will be renamed the Reader Store and have a new website, readerstore.sony.com. Newly offered will be e-books only in the open EPUB format, replacing the company's proprietary LRX files. At the same time, new Sony Library software v3.1 will be released, which will bring with it support for Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6.
Users will need to upgrade their existing readers, including the PRS-500, with the EPUB firmware in order to take advantage of the new firmware. The new store will have smaller, unspecified enhancements and performance improvements, with support for the upcoming Reader Daily Edition as one of them.
Because of the changeover, the Sony e-book store will be down for an unspecified period of time starting on December 10th at 2PM Pacific. [via MobileRead]

My Question
Will the new library software allow users to edit file data of their of PDFs? We're talking at least non-DRM'ed files.
The lack of editing ability for author, title, series, release date, edition, etc. data is the one thing keeping me on the open source Calibre, despite issues with outputting chinese characters (instead of the inputed english characters) to my PRS505.
