Olympus E-P2 ships to stores

updated 10:50 am EST, Wed December 9, 2009

2nd-gen Olympus MFT cam available

Without fanfare, Olympus today began quietly shipping the E-P2. The Micro Four Thirds camera is considered a premium improvement on the E-P1 and brings continuous autofocus, aperture and shutter control in 720p movie recording, new software filters and improved attachments such as a more detailed electronic viewfinder for the hotshoe (the VF-2) and a stereo microphone adapter (the EMA-1).

Amazon currently carries the camera for $1,099 with the VF-2 viewfinder bundled in the box. Pricing is the same for both a 14-42mm version for typical photographers or one with a 17mm pancake lens for those willing to give up zoom for portability and a wider aperture. As of today, only the 14-42mm kit is in stock.
