Samsung intros rugged memory cards in Europe
Samsung on Wednesday introduced its new line of rugged memory cards for the UK market. The CF plus and SD plus cards are waterproof, capable of withstanding 24 hours of submersion in sea water. The cards are also shock-proof and are impervious to magnets 13 times more powerful than a magnet found in a typical home theater speaker.
Samsung also claims the cards can retain data for up to 10 years without the need for a refresh. Included data recovery software is said to be three time faster than conventional methods.
The cards are available in either a brushed silver metallic finish or a natural beige epoxy. The microSD and SD cards can read at 17MBps, while the CF cards are capable of 45MBps read speeds. They are available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities.
The Samsung plus memory cards are available in France, Germany and the UK, and are scheduled to arrive in other markets at later, unspecified dates. Pricing hasn't been released.

i wish that these cards..their speeds etc...were easier to understand..class 6 ...class 10 yadda yadda yadda...and why are SD cards so big and CF cards so relatively small in capacity ? Why are these things being released in the UK before the US ?....Brits haven't had any money since WWI.
