MSI intros AIO with high-end audio tech, X600 Pro
PC maker MSI on Wednesday introduced its new Wind Top AE2220 along with the Windows 7-equipped X-Slim X600 Pro 15.6-inch notebook. The desktop PC is purportedly the first all-in-one to bring premium audio with it, including MSI's own Premium Sound Technology and a pair of full-range, 5W speakers with magnesium-aluminum alloy cones. SRS virtual surround is also a factor in the design.
Thanks to up to 8W of dynamic range, the result is 3 to 6dB more volume, for a total of up to 82dB, compared to the average PC's 78-80dB. Otherwise, the PC has a 21.5-inch touchscreen with multi-touch capability and a 1080p native resolution. Windows 7 is preloaded onto the hard drive. An HDMI port is part of the connections, letting the NVIDIA Ion graphics platform process HD video on an external displa, while a 1.6GHz Intel Atom handles more traditional computing tasks.
The X-Slim X600 Pro upgrades MSI's large 15.6-inch CULV system and uses a Core 2 Duo CPU of unknown speed. Windows 7 Home Premium is preloaded onto the hard drive, whose possible capacitive have also been extended from 250GB through to 640GB. A Mobility Radeon HD 4330 discrete graphics chipset brings 512MB of RAM and full hardware video acceleration. An HDMI output is integrated, as are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. A WiMAX module is an option. The X600 Pro is just under one inch thick and weighs 4.6lbs with its six-cell battery.
Despite the introductions, MSI has not announced ship dates nor prices for the new PCs.
