PS3 3.15 update live, brings mini games, LAN link

The latest firmware update for Sony's PlayStation 3 gaming console, version 3.15 previewed earlier this week, is now live. The upgrade brings the ability to play mini games like the PSP can currently play, which are downloadable from the PlayStation Network. There is also a LAN data transfer utility that lets users transfer content between two PS3s with a standard Ethernet cable.

The mini games were available for the portable PSP since October, and those who purchased them for the PSP can download them again for the PS3 without having to pay for them a second time. The mini games will not be ready for download until December 17th, however.

The update also contains a few bug fixes, including ones with Bluetooth and trophy synchronization. A new XMB icon for mini game save data also appears. [via Shacknews]
