Acer Aspire One 532 netbook shows up early
A driver download page on Acer's website reveals a new, as-yet-unreleased netbook model, the Aspire One 532. Available in a couple of models, the AO532H-xx, will be Acer's first netbook based on Intel's Pine Trail platform. That means the AO532H will be powered by the 1.66GHz N450 Intel Atom CPU, which is confirmed by several retailer sites that are already listing the netbook for sale.
The upcoming Acer netbook sports a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display with a 1280x720 resolution and Intel's as yet unreleased GMA 3150 graphics chipset; it also gets 1GB of RAM and a choice of 160GB or 250GB hard drives preloaded with Windows 7 Starter Edition. An Ethernet port is built-in, and the only battery offered with the netbook appears to be a three-cell unit. Otherwise, there is a 5-in-1 card reader, an integrated 0.3-megapixel camera, three USB ports, a VGA output and the requisite audio output jacks. Bluetooth is optional.
The netbook will be available in blue, red, black and silver colors when it launches in Europe at an unspecified date. It should be priced at the equivalent of about $440. [via Netbooked]
