International Droid sees record sales
UK retailer eXpansys today revealed that the Motorola Milestone's UK debut sold out in less than three hours. The exclusive sales outlet for the phone in the country said it listed the phone at 10AM on Thursday but had to label it as out of stock just 2.5 hours later. The rate is an all-time company record and even outpaced Apple's iPhone.
The shop wouldn't quantify the exact numbers sold but did tell Pocket-lint that it had over 1,000 pre-orders for the full-price, SIM-unlocked Android phone. It's had to increase its follow-up order twice and so far only promises that it will ship new orders before Christmas.
While the price and single source are likely to limit the actual sale of Milestone sales, the sellout is an important victory for Motorola, which has had little success with its older Windows Mobile-based smartphones and is counting on Android models for a rebirth. Its American equivalent, the Droid, may also be selling well. The Milestone has an edge over the Droid in supporting multi-touch for certain apps out of the box where its US cousin could only recognize it through third-party software.

Wait? Which rate?
The time it took them to sell out of 3000 phones? What are we talking about here, really?
