NEC adds two more eco-conscrious NP projectors

NEC Display on Monday added two new projectors to its NP series of short-throw devices, including the NP510WS and the NP610S. Meant for classrooms and conference rooms that are small and don't have the space for a contemporary projector, the NP510WS is widescreen while the NP610S uses a standard aspect ratio. Either, however, has environmentally-friendly features meant to expand the life of the projectors. An ECO Mode will let the lamp last for up to 5,000 hours, while power consumption and noise levels (29dB) are kept low.

The enhanced power management feature will turn off the projector when no incoming signal is detected from any of the inputs, and a quick start-up and shutdown also make better use of their time online.

Both also get the same Virtual Remote that lets users control the projectors from a computer without requiring any additional cables. Users can make remote adjustments and monitor the projector thanks to a remote diagnostics feature. There is an integrated closed captioning system, and automatic vertical keystone correction will compensate for any tilted mounted surfaces. VGA and DVI-I video inputs are shared between the pair, as is an Ethernet port. Sound is delivered through a 7W speaker.

The pair ship in January, with the 510WS priced at $949 while the NP610S will cost $999.
