Palm Pixi getting Wi-Fi, due at Verizon: FCC

A recently spotted FCC filing reveals that Palm will soon release a version of its Pixi handset that will support Verizon's network and have integrated Wi-Fi capabilities. The currently available Pixi also operates on CDMA but notably doesn't have Wi-Fi to keep its costs down.

The model name of the upcoming Pixi handset, P121EWW, is close to an earlier leak of a Verizon version of the device, codenamed P121. An analyst also believes Verizon will turn to Palm for its smartphone range as sales of its Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Eris have been disappointing.

A release date and price for the Wi-Fi-enabled Pixi aren't yet known, but are expected early next year. [via Engadget]
