Addonics card readers offer eSATA transfer speeds

Addonics recently introduced two products meant to speed up transfer speeds of content from memory cards, with its Pocket eSATA/USB DigiDrive and Internal SATA/USB DigiDrive. Either can read 15 different memory card formats with an optional adapter, with transfer speeds topping out at 1.5Gbps when connected using the eSATA interface. A traditional USB connection is also possible and peaks at the spec's 480Mbps.

The internal version will fit into 3.5-inch drive bays on desktop computers. The firmware of both readers can be upgraded to make them future-proof. Either is compatible with a minimum of Mac OS X 8.6, Linux kernel 2.4 and Windows 2000 operating systems.

The external readers are available in read-only or read and write versions, with either priced at $64. The internal readers are $60. The external drives ship with 3-foot eSATA and USB cables, while the internal readers including only an 18-inch long eSATA cable. [via SlashGear]
