Continental finalizes in-flight Wi-Fi details

Delayed Continental Wi-Fi due spring
Continental Airlines today set out more concrete plans for its in-flight Wi-Fi service. Pushed back from its original January 2009 target, the service is now due to launch in spring aboard 21 Boeing 757 airliners. Most of these will be present on domestic flights, the transport service says.
The service will be run by the most common supplier of in-flight wireless, Gogo, and will use that provider's typical pricing plans. Adding Internet access to a trip will start at $5 for a short, "red eye" flight and should increase up to $13 for long daytime flights. Previous carriers such as Delta, US Airways and Virgin have usually charged a flat rate of $8 for Wi-Fi on devices like smartphones and media players.
Of all the carriers in the US offering Gogo's plans, only AirTran and Virgin currently supply Internet access on all their planes.
