Zune Twitter app simple, fast

As promised earlier today, Microsoft has finally launched its native Twitter app for the Zune. The software provides a faster, native alternative to the web for the service and covers most of the core features, including favorites and searches. It doesn't, however, include facilities for native geolocation or the official retweeting format.

The software from a quick test proves to be a major improvement on using Twitter through the Zune's built-in web browser but is noticeably short of veteran apps like Tweetie for the iPhone or Twidroid for Android phones, both of which have deeper features and often have native web and photo viewers without having to leave the main app. Microsoft does, however, provide an intuitive interface and offers the software for free.
